Roulette Variations

Two main versions of roulette exist in casinos nowadays: American and European roulette. Although they may look exactly the same, one key difference actually exists between them, which makes one of them better. Various unknown games also exist, which several casinos have on offer, and although the majority of rules are the same on any roulette table, they each have their own distinguishing traits. Read on.

American Roulette

American roulette is the one that casinos offer up most frequently. It is easy to recognize this game by glancing at the roulette wheel. The wheel in American roulette has consecutive numbers, all of which lie across from one another; an extra apart is marked with 00, though, which does not exist in European roulette.

You may think this doesn't make a difference, but it actually makes a huge difference. As a matter of fact, the 00 makes every number's odds stand at 35:1. The rates of payout will depend on the player placing individual bets, double bets, or low bets, as well. If the ball drops onto 00 or 0, these numbers' winning bets are the only ones that will get paid out.

European Roulette

European roulette happens to be extremely similar to the American version, except the wheel has a different configuration and only as one zero on it (no extra 00). Because of this little different, the cans edge drops to 2.63% from 5.26%, making it better than American roulette overall.

Usually, European roulette can only be found in online casinos and not in land-based casinos, which is why online players have more of an advantage. So, if you want to win bets, choose the European version of roulette whenever you can.
